❋ Personalised & Expert Surf CoachingWork alongside professional surf coaches and guides who will help strengthen and develop technical aspects of your surfing, whilst eliminating weaknesses.
Coaches and guides have expert knowledge and experience of the waves on the island.
During all surf sessions there will be a surf coach and local guides to ensure that you are positioned in the best spots to select and ride the best waves for your ability!
We will utilise video analysis methods to break down technique after each surf session when back on land, in preparation for the next day of coaching.
❋ Uncrowded WavesThere are uncrowded waves all along the southern and western side of the island. With limited access to the island there a waves that are yet to be named or likely yet to even be discovered.
Within 5 to 45 minutes from the resort, there are at least 10 world class waves. Ranging from super hollow reefs to more mellow slow peeling beach breaks and softer reefs.
Every evening the guides and surf coaches will discuss the best options for the next day. After an early morning swell, wind, and tide check the call will be made for the group to best suit each surfers ability.
Typically, you can surf one spot in the morning and one or even two spots in the afternoon. We know that everyone has different surfing levels but the beauty of the island is that there are plenty of different wave options to match or push your ability.

FAQS

Gold Coast Surf Experience reccommends that you are at an intermediate level.
This means as a minimum you can perform basic turns on the face of the wave and confident surfing waves over head high on reef breaks.
This is not a trip for learners or those new to the sport.
If you are uncertain about your level, please contact us to discuss.
-
You must meet us in Medan KNO Airport. International flights are not included.
Singapore Airlines, Batik Air, AirAsia and Garuda Airlines all fly to Medan from destinations such as Jakarta, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
You need to arrive in Medan at the latest one day before the start of the camp. In Medan we will organise the boards onto the flights and boats to arrive at the surf camp, dependant on which day you arrive all of your boards may arrive prior to us landing on the island. If you arrive the night before the camp starts, one of your boards will go on the plane, the rest will arrive on day 2.
The night before camp starts we include a night’s accommodation in Medan and breakfast the following morning. This is a great opportunity to meet the rest of the group before embarking on the trip together.
Gold Coast Surf Experience recommends arriving in Medan at least 48hrs earlier than the trip start date if you wish to have all of your surfboards at the island when we arrive on the Saturday. We recommend staying at the Anara Sky Hotel in Medan KNO airport if you arrive prior to the 16th April 2027.

Prepare for perfect waves in crystal clear water, the air temperature in North Sumatra rarely drops below 30c and the sea 28c year round.
Mornings are spent reviewing footage over breakfast and coffee before heading off for the first surf of the day with your goals set.
Surf sessions generally last 2-3 hours and we have a minimum of 2 surfs per day, all with coaching and photography/videography.
During the day there is downtime to swim in the pool, relax in the air conditioning, play on the pool table or hanging by the beach next to the camp, which also has fun waves.
Evenings are spent enjoying dinner and a cold drink or two, whilst analysing the videos of the days surfing, working on technical aspects of each surfer.
Be prepared to surf…LOTS!
